Canada - land of the squatters...

Alfred, a Kanien’kehaka (Mohawk) scholar, reminds us that the word Canada
is derived from a Kanien’kehaka term, Kanatiens, which means “they sit in our village.”
A contemporary translation of this term would be “squatter.” Given the origins of
Canada, what can descendants of squatters or settlers offer Indigenous peoples by way of
reconciliation? Where does one start in terms of reconciling Canada?
