Cooking

During the week of the G8/G20, the Toronto Community Mobilization Network will be running a Community Kitchen from Monday June 21st to Sunday June 27th to help feed people who have come here to voice their concerns about the G20. We need food donations, volunteers to cook, industrial kitchens and chefs to pull it altogether. Contact Tom Malleson (tommalleson@hotmail.com) and Brett Rhyno (brett_rhyno@hotmail.com) to get involved

Childcare

To correspond with the days of action we will be organizing a childcare traveling circus of sorts. Organized in manner similar to that of the street medics, childcare volunteers will be on hand at the various actions with kid’s activities, snacks, water, sunscreen, first aid etc. to lend some support to parents and their children.

If you can commit to signing up for a volunteer shift, even if it is just for an hour or two, or have anything to donate please contact us at g20childcare@gmail.com.

General Support

Do you have some time between now and June 27, 2010? Drop by the Convergence Centre at 1266 Queen Street West to grab posters and flyers or take some tasks! The Convergence Centre is a community safe space during the G20 and we encourage people to come by.

Legal

The Movement Defence Committee, Summit Legal Project, is working to ensure the safety of participants. They have great advice that everyone should read and distribute: http://www.g20.torontomobilize.org/node/256

Police

Please note, you do not have to speak to CSIS or identify yourself to police. Please read this and distribute:
http://www.g20.torontomobilize.org/node/38

Supporting each other

It is very important for people coming to mass demonstrations to come together in groups so that there are always people to take care of each other. There is a particular call for autonomous actions on Sunday (June 27) but in general coming with friends is suggested. One way to do this is through an Affinity Group. Read more about it here: http://www.g20.torontomobilize.org/node/200

Banners/Placards/Puppets/Music

The Toronto Community Mobilization Network is supporting mobilizations for:
~ self-determination for indigenous peoples
~ climate and environmental justice
~ income equity and community control over resources
~ migrant justice and an end to war and occupation
~ gender justice, queer and disAbility rights.

The 21 to 27 of June, 2010 are themed on these issues
(http://g20.torontomobilize.org/schedule). To make the most colorful, welcoming atmosphere possible, make banners, placards and puppets. Bring your own music, pots and pans, bottles filled with pebbles or boom-boxes, anything works. There should be some basic supplies at the Convergence Centre if you are interested.

Filming/Photography

It is important to tell our stories in our own ways and voices. Please visit http://g20.torontomobilize.org/altmedia and http://2010.mediacoop.ca/ to get involved.

IMPORTANT: Recent court cases have ruled that police can demand video, sources or information from journalists or on public websites (youtube, flickr, etc) for use in prosecution. Video-graphing or photographing a crime could be used against those in the video by police who may confiscate your property. Recent court cases have ruled that police can demand video, sources or information from journalists for use in prosecution. During the Olympics the Vancouver Media Co-op Media Center
was inundated by Police attempting to enter the center precisely to get footage related to get to Direct Actions. Be careful filming some types of disobedience! You may lose your camera and get someone you like in trouble!
