I think this is naive. It might be better to think about why the government is so reluctant to let Tamil immigrants into the country. I'm smiling as I type this...
Tamils who are here are beautifully well organized and political. They were organized enough to coordinate a massive shut down of one of this city's arteries - the gardiner. Clearly, they were much better organized and cohesive than the folks who tried to mount resistance to the G20. So, of course the government is trying to send Tamils back. The government is shitting its pants at the thought of the kind of organized and effective resistance they might be able to mount again. Gee...I wonder what would happen if the next time the G20 come to town, we let the Tamils lead? Things might unfold differently, I dare say. The thought of that is sweet. :)
