Gothenburg 2001 Riots...

this may be really or facetiously dedicated to the swedish police but it shows how extensive resistance against them was.

we're so timid. so unwilling to stand. these images are so alien to me like something out of history books, from another place. beauties. they were aggressive. they did not seek refuge in the term pacifist or peaceful. they fought. they fought. they did not back down and they certainly did not sing the fucking national anthem. they fought. yes, they were arrested. yes they were beaten. and still they resisted. i'd ask - what's wrong with us? but i already know. don't you?

The protests during the EU summit in Gothenburg 2001, parts of which are often called the Gothenburg Riots, took place in the Swedish city of Gothenburg during the three days of the EU summit and EU--US Summit, June 14--16, 2001. The EU Summit focused upon EU enlargement, sustainable development, economic growth and structural reform issues. The EU--US summit included a visit by U.S. president George W. Bush on June 14. It was the first U.S. presidential visit to Sweden, and was intended as an opportunity to discuss differences on climate negotiations, WTO and Middle East issues with the EU leaders.

According to the police, more than 50,000 demonstrators gathered in Gothenburg during the three days of the summit.

The summit was guarded by approximately 2500 Police officers.
