The last time I built things from scratch in wood was in junior high...

i got marks in my eighties and felt pretty damned comfortable using all different kinds of machinery. then the principal got the intelligent idea that since funds were limited he would let males keep doing industrial arts and shunt us young wimmin into family fucking studies...because i didn't already know how to cook and sew with sufficient skill.

these days i'm the person in the house who assembles furniture and does home repairs. i also have a passion for really beautiful pieces of hand made wooden furniture that doesn't seem to be satisfied by buying stuff on craigslist and refinishing or painting pieces i already own. thinking seriously about taking a bunch of wood working courses. that thought excites me. :)
